As of yesterday I’d exercised five days for the week. This morning I asked myself, “Should I make it six or just go back to bed?” Ideal exercise for me is pulling up to a table to enjoy a sundae. It’s not breathing heavier, sweating and being in need of a shower.
Let’s look at the way I was brought up. As a child, my family’s idea of exercise was riding in the car to get an ice cream cone. I was not taught as a child to exercise. I was taught to eat. I remember my grandmother saying, “Let her eat! It’s good for her.” There were four people in my family. When we had ice cream we divided a half gallon for one evening treat.
Needless to say this is part my current situation. I’m doing much better at overcoming those old habits, but it’s an every day challenge and not something I just do naturally, at least not yet. It takes work and dedication.
I did exercise and was happy with myself. It’s been a very good day.

Old habits are hard to break – don’t I know! I’m really proud of you and all your success.
It’s kind of like, “Hey, if my mom can change her life, I know that I can as well!” You’re my inspiration!
