We’re close!!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written.  In addition to “keeping warm” I guess we’ve been somewhat busy AND I don’t know if it makes any difference to anyone but me that I write at all.  If it’s just for ME I’ll just try to make sure it’s written well.  :)

We’re very close to warm weather.  It reached the high 40’s yesterday and it was very sunny.  We even opened the front door for a while to get some fresh air.  It felt so good.  It’s supposed to reach the high 50’s today.  I HOPE THE WORST IS OVER!  I’m so tired of being cold, but all in all it’s been a good winter season.

If the 50’s continue we’ll probably see spring bulbs rising up soon.  I just hope they don’t get frozen after that.

Have a great day!!

10 Weeks or So…

It’s counting down!  Winter has hit us, but we’re doing well.  The groundhog saw his shadow yesterday so they’re predicting six more weeks of winter.  I still stick with my initial 16 week format and figure we have about ten more.  ..Better than 16..  :)

As of January 20th., Michigan’s had three times the snow we got all of last year.  We had another seven inches this past week, so I’m guessing we’re about up to four times now.  If you’re a snow/cold weather sports person it’s great.  The skiers, snow boarders and others are loving it so I hear.  I’m glad for them.  I’m just staying warm.  I’m a warmer weather exercise person.  ..Different strokes!

I hope your winter is going well…wherever you are.  :)

14 Weeks…

We’re at 14 weeks remaining of my 16 week countdown.  It’s hard to believe that it’s already past mid-January.  One thing hasn’t changed though, and that’s the COLD weather.  Last weekend the actual temperatures were hovering about 4 degrees with wind chill factors of minus 15.  Michigan has already had more snow this year, so far, then we had all of last year.  We’ve had an additional two feet!

Thankfully Rex and I have not had a problem with power outages or freezing pipes.  It can be pretty difficult at times and I know we in Michigan are not in as bad shape as a lot of other places around the country.

It’s great for the people who like cold weather.  I’m glad for them.  They can honestly have my entire share.  :)

14 and counting…

16 Weeks…

It’s Sunday, January 6th.  I’m in Michigan.  We’re having a January thaw.  Today it’s nearing 45 degrees and the majority of the 12 inches of snow we got on New Year’s Eve is gone.  It’s supposed to reach the 50’s tomorrow and then turn cold again with more snow, probably measurable, forecasted for the middle of next week.

One thing I’ve come to rely on in Michigan is about 16 weeks of cold winter weather starting from January 1st., running to sometime in April.  I keep hoping that it won’t be that long a stretch, but it seems that if I plan on 16 weeks, I’m not disappointed at all if it’s only 12 or 13.  That’s just a bonus.

I’ve lived in Michigan all of my life except for a short stint in Charleston,South Carolina when my first husband was in the Navy and we were stationed there, and as a child living in Glendora, California with my parents and brother.

Since most of my adult life has been in Michigan, I’m used to cold weather in the winter. Nearly six years ago, our daughter was graduated from college and got the opportunity to move to Southern California, moved, and started her career there.  She was never fond of cold weather and when the chance was given she left.  I don’t blame her at all.

In the future if things work out we could move to a warmer climate.   I don’t want to move to California just because our daughter and her husband are there.  It would be our luck that as soon as we got settled there, they in their young careers would move away.   We have to move where we think we’d like to be, and not just for the sake of others.

Until then though…I guess I’ll just go with the 16 weeks.  Tomorrow it becomes 15 weeks, so we’re at least on our way.    :)
